Hello there…I’m Amy!

I am a Christian, mother, wife, daughter, sister, colleague, and friend, deeply rooted in the faith and relationships that shape my life. As a leader, lifelong learner, and changemaker, I’m passionate about connecting people, ideas, and resources to make a difference. I believe in the power of collaboration and continuous learning to drive transformation.

Originally a farmgirl from North Dakota, my educational and professional journey has taken me to Nebraska, Guam, Ohio, and now to the Washington, D.C. area. My education has been an integral part of my personal and professional growth. I recently earned a PhD in in Assessment, Evaluation, and Accountability (AEA) from Walden University, where I also completed my Master of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in AEA and a Master of Education in Literacy and Learning. I received my Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Union College in Nebraska.

Throughout my studies and beyond, I have been driven by a desire to learn, grow, and apply what I’ve learned to create meaningful change. I’ve had the privilege of working in both the educational and philanthropic sectors. After 12 years in Seventh-day Adventist education as a teacher and vice principal, I transitioned into the philanthropic world in 2012, where I now work as the Director, Organizational Learning and Effectiveness for a small family foundation committed to contributing to a society where all children can thrive.

The beach and the prairie are my happy places, where the endless horizons offer a grounding beauty and peacefulness that both rejuvenates and energizes me. I enjoy experiences that spark adventure and help me work toward a more balanced life. Whether it’s listening to music, indulging in delicious food, scuba diving beneath the waves, swimming (preferably in a pool over the salty ocean), playing the piano, diving into a good book (something I can finally enjoy again now that my dissertation is complete!), or spending time with friends, I savor moments that nourish my soul.

Amy’s Assessment serves as a platform for sharing my research, thoughts, and ideas on topics that align with both my personal and professional interests.
